What We've Been Up To
At Spanglish Voces, we’re not just teaching creativity—we’re fostering the next generation of storytellers, leaders, and changemakers.
This summer, our work blossomed in classrooms, workshops, and digital spaces across New York City and beyond:
Transformative Media Education in the Bronx
Our summer teaching in NYC public schools, led by the inspiring direction of our Programming Director, Zulaika Velazquez, empowered students from the South Bronx to strengthen their writing and communication skills.
Through our Transformative Media Education Program, students became directors, writers, and producers—creating a commercial spot for their own school. Their work is a testament to what happens when creativity meets opportunity. [Watch the commercial here]. See photos of the process below.
Historias sin Fronteras — Writing Without Borders
Led by our literary magazine’s Editor-in-Chief and teaching artist, Roxana Calderón, we launched a free virtual writing workshop for adult emerging writers. This series invited participants to explore identity, migration, and roots through literature—lifting stories that cross borders and connect us all.
Amplifying Emerging Voices
Through our digital literary magazine, we continue to spotlight emerging voices from across the United States and around the world. Each piece is a bridge—between cultures, across languages, and into the heart of human experience. You can access and read them here.
