Edwin Rosario Mazara is an artist, strategist, and community advocate who believes in the transformative power of creativity to ignite change. As the founder of Spanglish Voces Inc.—a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting emerging writers, poets, musicians, actors, and visual artists from historically excluded communities—he has built a home where untapped talent finds mentorship, education, and opportunity. His work bridges the gap between potential and platform, nurturing voices that will not only shape their craft but also strengthen and enrich their communities.
Alongside his work with Spanglish Voces, Edwin has founded La Sala Talks and Ahora-Now, and serves as Communications Director at the New York State Senate. He brings a rare blend of artistic vision and strategic leadership to every project, forging spaces where culture, advocacy, and storytelling meet purpose—and where the next generation of creators can rise, thrive, and transform the world around them.

Zulaika Velazquez

Zulaika Velazquez is a dynamic force in the world of arts and culture—a celebrated director, producer, writer, and actress whose work bridges tradition, innovation, and fierce advocacy. A four-time TONY Award nominee for Excellence in Theatre Education and a 2019 LENY Ambassador, Velazquez embodies a lifelong commitment to the transformative power of the stage.
She holds dual degrees in Opera Performance and Theatre Direction, and has produced 16 global productions of The Vagina Monologues, sparking dialogue and empowerment across borders. She has also served as Artistic Director at several prestigious institutions, cultivating spaces where artists are empowered to take risks, heal, and soar.
As Chief Operating Officer and Programming Director, Velazquez is dedicated to expanding opportunities for emerging artists and building an arts community where voices once pushed to the margins take center stage.

Roxana Calderón
Teaching Artist
Roxana Calderón, born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Santo Domingo, DR, is a writer, poet, and editor. She released her first book, “La casa de las maletas”, with DWA Press, NYC, in 2019. Her works have appeared in various publications including “El vuelo más largo”, a compilation of poems by Hispanic American writers, published in Peru, by Ángeles Del Papel. In October 2021, Roxana presented her first monologue, Once We Loved, at Alianza Dominicana.
In January 2024, Roxana launched her self-published poetry book, “Esto no es poesía”, featuring over 100 notes from her life from 2018 to 2022. Calderón serves as volunteer editor-in-chief of Spanglish Voces’s digital magazine and contributes to the Dominican Writers Association.
Roxana’s writing uniquely captures the emotional depth of the human experience, resonating with readers worldwide.
